Numerical simulation and experimental verification of flow through throttle valve

  • Original language description

The article is focused on the experimental determination of the static ?p-Q characteristics and flow numerical simulation through the throttle valve which is located in the Plexiglas manifold. The throttle valve is the hydraulic element that creates the flow resistance in the hydraulic circuit. This resistance then results in the increased pressure drop depending on the volume flow rate level during the flow through the throttle valve. The physical properties dependencies are determined for the mineral oil HV46. These dependencies are used to define fluid in the computational models. The ANSYS Fluent software is used to evaluate the partial mathematical simulations. The article deals with flow mathematical simulations through the throttle valve for the laminar model, RANS models, and LES model. The single-phase flow is taken into account in the mathematical models. The results of the numerical simulations and the experiment are compared. (C) 2023 Author(s).
