    Determination of Rotary Joint Stiffness Coefficients using Modal Analysis

  • Original language description

    The paper describes the methodology for determining the stiffness coefficients of a kinematic joint. The subject of investigation is a joint providing rotary motion of one arm of the 4R Bennett mechanism. The basic principle is in the FE model updating method, in which the experimentally measured natural frequencies of the analysed assembly are used to optimize the stiffness coefficients of the bushing connector representing the kinematic joint. The use of bushing with appropriately adjusted stiffness parameters significantly improves the accuracy of the numerical model compared to the model with rigid connector.
