Under term #embedded system# is possible to imagine wide scale of industrial devices as well as household electric appliance. As examples we can use pretty much of medical appliance, cellular phones, pocket computers, cash dispenser etc. These devices and appliances contain mostly (if is it meaningful) operating system. But there aren#t popular operating systems well known from personal computer scene, i.e. Windows, Mac OS or Linux. Mostly used embedded operating systems are VxWorks, OS-9, QNX, WindowsCE and VRTX mainly. There are engage to them Linux based operating systems in last few years. We talk about so-called real-time operating systems, which are able to respond at the rate of microseconds order. This is very important in some mission critical applications, for example car anti block braking system
