n the paper we examine the use-mention distinction not on the linguistic level, but on the objectual level of entities denoted by linguistic terms. We show that an expression can be used in two different ways. Either its meaning is used to point to a denoted entity (if any), or mentioned by the meaning of another expression. And if the former, then the meaning can be used again in two different ways, namely with the de dicto or de re supposition.
