    Impact of jitter on speech quality estimation in modified E-model

    In proposed paper we analyse MOS VoIP call quality estimate using E-model as defined by ITU-T. Influence of network parameters is further investigated with focus on delay, packet loss and jitter. Analysis of dependence of predicted MOS value by E-model serves as a basis for newly proposed method of effective packet loss calculation. In this paper, theoretical model of network jitter is described through Pareto/D/1/K system describing packet arrivals and their processing at input of receiving device withfinite memory buffer serving as dejitter buffer. Theoretical analysis of jitter effects on MOS is supported by simulation and 189 measurements. Result is a new equation incorporating network jitter and jitter buffer length as input parameters substituting existing Ppl (network packet loss) with newly proposed Pplef (effective packet loss).
