Use of discriminant analysis for medical data evaluation

  • Original language description

This paper uses discriminant analysis for medical data evaluation. The processed data file comes from The Department of Surgery in The Faculty Hospital Ostrava, the Czech Republic. It contains information about patients who underwent colorectal surgery in 2001-2006, such as their age, cardiac stress, blood pressure, etc. ( the values of independent variables) and also information whether the operation was finished as laparoscopic or it had to be converted into open during its executing ( the values of dependent variable). Discriminant analysis is used here for finding the variable with the greatest impact on this conversion and for creating the model for prediction of conversion for a patient before the surgery. The model is based on the measured attributes.
