In autumn 2009 we switched off the public lighting in the all district. In this district about 0,5 million citizens live. The switching off was done for finding out the public lighting influence on night sky glares and illuminance caused by reflected part of artificial light from the atmosphere. This experiment was concepted in the large area of all districts. This certain district has suitable position from this point of view. It is bordered by the mountains from one side and from the second side it isopened to all Czech Republic (direction to Prague). The measurement conception was chosen so that luminance and illuminance scanning was done both in the centre of the district biggest city and outskirts. The outskirts were chosen so that it is possibleto see both to the dark mountains and bright large industrial centers out of switched off district. We measured in the centre of the district capital and in three uphill places situated around all district.
