Simulation versus analytical algorithms to estimate rare-event probabilities
Original language description
This paper deals with a new analytical algorithm that is able to carry out high-performance and exact reliability computing of highly reliable systems with maintenance (both preventive and corrective). The algorithm allows take into account highly reliable and maintained input components including repairable components undergoing to hidden failures. Computation efficiency of the new algorithm is demonstrated on two problems. First, a highly reliable 1-out-of-3 parallel system from reference is calculated and results are compared with outputs of a MOCA simulation software. Second problem is real reliability problem from practice of a power distribution company.
