Simulation of Multi-Pulse Rectifiers Using the Program EMTP-ATP
Original language description
Multi-pulse rectifiers are used in various technical applications. One of them is the area of the AC adjustable speed drives. These drives have implemented semiconductor converters into their structure from which the most adopted is the 6-pulse diode rectifier used in the input converter section. Instead of it, multi-pulse rectifiers, e.g. 12 or 18-pulse, can be used to considerably reduce harmonics generated by the drive into the network. To analyze the behavior of multi-pulse rectifiers under variousvoltage quality conditions, simulation models of both 12 and 18-pulse have been developed in the program EMTP-ATP. The paper also presents a comparison of simulation results to results from performed measurements.
