    Biomedical engineering education under European union support

    Biomedical engineering is a progressive science, combining knowledge of technology and medical science. Graduates of this field must be studied not only the technology, which, as a person is not an easy field, but also the selected chapters of medicine.An important part of the study is also practical training in hospitals in the department of medical technics, which is expensive for such old equipment. The cost of teaching these subjects are generally higher than on purely technical education in the field. This article describes the structure of study biomedical engineering in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. It also shows how important and useful support for the study of these subjects from the European Union structural funds. The article outlines ways to motivate students of lower levels of education to study these very difficult subjects. 2011 Springer-Verlag.
