Kaira: Generating parallel libraries and their usage with Octave

  • Original language description

We are developing a tool Kaira, it is intended for modelling, simulation and generation of parallel applications. A developer is able to model parallel programs and different aspects of communication using Kaira. Models are based on our own variant of Coloured Petri Nets. Petri nets are a well established graphical and mathematical modelling language for a description of concurrent systems, but Petri nets are rarely used in the area of high performance computing. An important feature of our tool is an automatic generation of standalone parallel applications from models. In this paper we want to focus on the new Kaira's feature, the ability to generate parallel libraries. Kaira supports C++ libraries and also it is possible to generate parallel libraries for Octave. Their usage is demonstrated on a real example, parallelization of Total-FETI domain decomposition method.
