Original language description
The theme of this paper is the measurement of blood recirculation using the BTM module, which is a part of the hemodialysis monitor FRESENIUS 4008S. This work presents the development trend of the flow in the vascular access obtained from Doppler ultrasound examination and BTM module. It compares the measurement accuracy of BTM module with Doppler ultrasound examination. A part of this work is the implementation of the program which calculates from the measured values a flow of the arteriovenous (AV) shunt, monitors the progression of flow and alerts to impaired flow below the acceptable limit. Then a doctor can consider whether the flow in the AV shunt is adequate or whether it requires surgery. 2014 WIT Press.
