  • Original language description

Present work describes the effect of montmorillonite (MMT) particles on the alignment of conducting polyaniline (PANI) chains in PANI/MMT composite. The composite was prepared in two forms: powder and thin film deposited on glass surface. For a comparison, also a pure PANI was prepared in these two forms. Powder samples were pressed into tablets. Combination of X-ray powder diffraction analysis and molecular modeling confirmed successful intercalation of MMT by PANI while Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of conducting form of PANI (i.e., emeraldine salt) in all samples. Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy were used to study the morphologies of all samples. Conductivity measurements revealed that presence of MMT particles in PANI/MMT composites significantly helps to increase the electrical conductivity in comparison with pure PANI samples. Moreover, in case of pressed tablets the presence of MMT particles led to extremely
