The traction mains comprising a trolley wire and rails are needed for the electric current transmission from feeder stations to collectors of rail vehicles from the beginning of the dependent electric traction. A trolley line, also called a trolley only,is derived from the word trolley - within the meaning of a push-cart. The oldest vehicles drew a cable connected to a trolley behind them, which ensured the contact with the feeder line by travelling over pulleys. In this paper we deal with problems ofthermal dimensioning of the traction mains with regard to the current loading occurring during the railway operation. One of the research tasks has been to design an application in the Borland - Delphi development environment, which can be capable to calculate a temperature rise of individual conductors in a system according to an algorithm. A graphic evaluation of a run time in a segment in proportion to the temperature rise rate has been performed for a trolley wire, which suffers the
