Device for Evaluation of Electrical Parameters of Biopotential Electrodes

  • Original language description

Biopotential electrodes are essential for measurements of biological signals. There are many different manufacturers and many different types of electrodes on the market. Essential parameters such as impedance, distortion and phase angle are often not disclosed by the manufacturer. This work presents a simple device that can be used to test electrical parameters of any biopotential electrodes in the frequency range of few Hz to 2 kHz. The device is based on Arduino Due and uses this board's internal DAC and ADC for generating and sampling the measurement signal. The proposed device was used to measure electrical parameters of a brass biopotential electrode with various signal voltages and also for evaluation of four different commercially available Ag/AgCl electrodes.
