Utilization of FEM Model for Validation of Induction Coil Sensor in Diagnosis of Rotor Defects

  • Original language description

The paper deals with the design of a simple and relatively reliable method for offline diagnostics of asynchronous motor rotors shortly after casting. Numerical simulation is used for the basic design of the overall arrangement of the rotor to be measured, the sensors and the measurement system as a whole. Using transient electromagnetic analysis, a set of output signals from the sensor is searched for that clearly identifies a possible rotor fault, such as a partially or fully broken bar. FFT analysis, which is part of the simulation software, is used for the overall processing of the simulated values. The solution results are then compared and validated using measurements on the real rotor with the sensors constructed according to the previous simulations.
