Aplication of morphotectonic analysys for solving problems of structural conditions of uper silesian coal basin
Original language description
The Upper Silesian coal basin is a suitable exemplary area where principles of morphotectonic analysis can be applied for solving problems of structural-tectonic conditions. The basin is a singular case by superimposition of three structural levels. Theoldest Cadomian level is represented by Brunovistulicum forming a forefield of Variscan accretion wedge represented by sediments of Rheno-Hercynian and Subvariscan (Upper Silesian coal basin) and at last Alpine accretion wedge formed by sediments of forearc basin and by Outer Carpathian nappes. The morphotectonic analysis is based on 3D visual interpretation of digital terrain models (DTM) of particular structural levels. Analysed digital models have been set up on basis of data from drilling and miningactivities, of satellite radar data, of data from geophysical seismic and magnetometric survey, especially however from detailed digitalisation of topographic map of 1 : 25 000 scale. Particular DTM are confronted in view of mutual struc
