In the submitted contribution, the authors present findings obtained during the first year of solving the grant project on evaluation of the chemical-technological parameters of coal seams in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin. . It is a case ofnew defining spatial (areal and vertical) changes in the decisive parameters that characterise not only the chemical-technological but also physical properties of coal matter.
