Original language description
The exploitation of coal in the western and southern parts of Upper Silesian Basin in the territory of Czech republic has been associated, for a long time, with problems of geomechanical events, i.e. coal and gas outbursts. After declaring the programmeof phasing out ineffective mines and closing mines above all in the Ostrava part of the coalfield, outburst problems are still topical for localities of the southern part of Ostrava-Karvina Coalfield. In the contribution, we shall be concerned with problems associated with coal and gas outbursts. We shall present fundamental forecast and prevention methods, outline trends in research regarding the given area.
