The possibility of utilization of claystone and bentonite as sorbent
Original language description
Currently, environmental pollution and improvement of old ecological burdens are very topical issues. Waste water with heavy metal content and dump water represent a threat to the environment. Neither in the Czech Republic nor abroad localities with increased contents of heavy metals as a consequence of industrial activities are exceptional. The issue of heavy metals is their dangerousness for the surroundings and their resistance to natural degradation processes. Their toxic properties have a negativeimpact on the environment. A possibility to stop the leak of hazardous substances into the environment is utilization of sorbents and their absorbing capacities. Current research in elimination of heavy metals deals with potential application of naturalmaterials, as well as industrial waste, as affordable sorbents.
