The Geographical and Temporal Balance of Czech TV CT24 News
Original language description
Three RSS channels of Czech TV 24 have been monitored for 30 months and an analysis of the spatial and time distributions of news has been performed. These channels were automated scanned and geocoded which requested to prepare a set of appropriate procedures how to capture, store news and how to process unstructured texts. Results approve existing the roughly even distribution of news. Regional centres show higher density of news with an extremely high media popularity assigned to Karlovy Vary and thelowest one to Zlín. Regional news seem to be more even distributed than home or cultural news, nevertheless the frequency of home and cultural news in the study period is quite low. The relationship to population demonstrates the higher frequency of regional news in outer regions of Bohemia (especially Karlovy Vary, Jihocesky, Liberecky, Pardubicky, Kralovehradecky a Vysocina regions), while Zlinsky, Jihomoravsky and MoravskoSlezsky regions seem to be under-saturated.
