The Necessity of Engineering-geological Condition Evaluation in Land-use Planning
Original language description
The objective of the paper is to draw attention to the importance of using information on engineering-geological environment in land-use planning and informing future users of land, especially developers, designers and builders. A possible tool to reachthe objective is an analysis of spreading engineering-geological zones in relation to areal distribution of landscape elements paying more attention to the built-up area in time sections of the current state and intermediate period of newly realized built-up area since 1946 to date. Ignorance of the geological environment and its unimplementability into regional-decision-making processes may bring a number of potential complications and risks. Application of data layers with such information using geographic information systems should become a standard, compatible with topical knowledge of scientific disciplines, engineering geology in particular. The study was carried out in a selected part of the city of Ostrava, the third largest cit
