Selected Geofactors Affecting Possible Future Development by means of Land-use Planning
Original language description
The very important for land planning or building the foundations of construction works in a certain area is the integrated knowledge of engineering-geological conditions that are a decisive factor of high-quality and effective building the foundations ofpotential construction works. The paper deals with two geofactors out of many that must be considered, i.e. flood lands and radon hazard. The study made use of overlay analyses of Geographic Information System on a selected territory of the City of Ostrava which has very complicated, anthropogenically affected foundation engineering conditions. It has been identified that in the long term both authorities and developers ignored the unsuitable nature of the flood lands to be built over.
