Gas Emission from Rock Mass in Areas with a Hazard of Coal and Gas Outbursts
Original language description
Gas conditions play a significant role in problems of the occurrence of anomalous phenomenon of coal and gas outbursts. When assessing coal seams, the primary fact that gaseous products are for the most part the end products of coalification process is used as a basis. This includes comlicated physical-chemical transformations of original plant material and other admixtures,at the end of which the main solid (fromthe point of view of utilisation) product-coal seam and minor gaseous and liquid products are there. In our article we concerned with the assessment of gas emission rate of coal seams in the Ostrava-Karvina Coalfield. I started from the database of almost 200 samples of coal seams, in wich gas emission rates had been measured. In the article, results of assessment of gas emission rate depending upon other factors will be presented. Moreover, gas drainage as preventive measure to reduce a coal and gas outburst hazard will be mentioned in the article as well.
