Hydrogeochemistry of CO2 Aquifer Sequestration - Preliminary Modeling and Experimental Examinations
Original language description
The paper presents conclusions of modelling and experiments focused on assessment of hydrogeochemical effects of carbon dioxide sequestration in saline aquifers of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB). The relevent models of gas-rock-water interactions ware tested, laboratory experiments were conducted with the use of autoclave that was constructed for the purpose of the project. The procedure allowed the reactions between CO2, rock and pore water in PVT conditions equivalent to the real aquifer environment. Examinations of reacted rock samples confirmed, in general, the modeled scenarios of mineral CO2 sequestration in the analyzed par of the USCB. The experiments allowed for the tests and modifications of the prototype autoclave.
