  • Original language description

    The paper deals with a removal of oil from mine water using loose sorbent. The sorbent is composed of polyurethane foam, ash from combusting biomass of plant origin and a hydrophobic reagent. The sorbent was developed at the Institute of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Mining and Geology at VSB-TU Ostrava in cooperation with a private entity, company of D & Daxner Technology s.r.o. Samples of mine water from underground and surface coal mining were used for the laboratory experiments. Sorption abilities of the prepared sorbent were compared with the sorption capabilities of commercially available hydrophobic loose sorbents.
