The Potential of Automatic Identification and Augmented Reality in Mining
Original language description
The article deals with synergies of tools of automatic identification, augmented reality and RFID technologies that could be an integral part of control and monitoring systems in mining industry. We can observe a penetration of smart phones and tablets into daily life that opens the door of advanced Augmented Reality application potential. Along with these trends, we follow the growing importance of automatic identification and RFID technology in industrial applications. Automatic identification technology is designed mainly to gather information and data on the behavior and state of the controlled and monitored objects. Identification and localization of moving objects in space is necessary for effective management in mining production processes. Theaim of our research is to find synergies in the use of augmented reality with the benefits provided by AutoID transponders in mining industry, starting at transportation chains up to monitoring of location of technology and staff safety.
