We discuss new structural difference method usage in prediction of Spring barley (Hordeum vulgare) stress caused by darkness and drying for nine days. The new proposed method is compared with the other frequently used methods. According to our results structural difference method has a good perspective to be used as a plant stress indicator in an early phase detection for a wide scale of stress factors. Moreover, structural difference method could be used not only as an indicator of plant stress but ithas also potential to reveal concrete stress reason and intensity.
