Original language description
This article deals with the use of RFID technology in the environment of surface coal mines in the Czech Republic. Specific experiments were carried out to monitor the movement of locomotives in an opencast mine company engaged in mining of brown coal. Basic monitoring data can be provided using passive RFID technology by placing the tags on transport network key locations and thus monitoring movement of transport elements. Specifically, there were mining locomotives and determination of their positionby progressive reading of the identification elements on the route of movement. Appropriate deployment of passive tags in the mining network structure guarantees automatic recording of movement of locomotives in the monitored area which significantly contributes to the improvement of operational management processes. Another added value is more accurate position data obtained from GPS systems, mainly in the parallel and close sections.
