The paper provides an overview of the current status of information and control systems in the coal preparation plants in the Czech Republic and the trends in these systems. Authors in recent years dealt with the possibilities of new technologies in control of the technological processes, such as the use of RFID technology, 3D models and use the virtual reality in process control. The article deals with the deployment of these technologies for modeling the processes in the coal preparation plants.
