Original language description
3D laser scanning of bucket wheel excavators serves in identifying key geometric parameters and in the creation of mathematical models. Thus, a compact and highly accurate 3D point model of a bucket wheel excavator was obtained. The evaluation consistedof vectorizing their important features. This data was used to visualize the spatial position of excavators and track their movements in real time. Knowing the position of excavators, respectively the bucket wheel to the digital terrain model (opencast mine) and the geological model is important for the mine management of and the calculation of volumes of extracted materials in real time. Measurements were carried out at Severočeské Doly mines.
