Fine-grained mineral wastes as potential source of secondary raw materials
Original language description
Old mining tailing ponds represent one of the most important sources of the fine grained mineral waste which could be utilised as a secondary raw material. Tailing ponds are situated mostly in poor regions without satisfactory amount of cheap building material. Hydrothermal litification of mineral waste enable its solidification and isolation of reactive compounds (as sulphides) within matrix. The processing of the mineral waste to building material using hydrothermal process seems to be both from economic as well as from environmental viewpoint the best solution how to solve the removal of the environmental risk in the country. The article present alternative possibilities how to capitalize the mining waste and show a new direction of environmental engineering solutions used for tle landscape sanitation and revitalisation.
