The article deals with the possibilities and advantages of implementing radio-frequency identification technology (hereinafter referred to as ?RFID?) and the electronic product code information system (hereinafter referred to as ?EPCIS?) in manufacturingfacilities in the Czech Republic. It describes the common efforts of many partners aimed at establishing and implementing a customized system supporting members of the logistics and manufacturing chain, in particular, in the automotive industry. The article describes research and development in the field of EPCIS systems and experience of a RFID laboratory in the field of EPCIS, summarizing the steps achieved in the first year of the project.
