Influence of zeta potential on separation of coal and tailing slurries
Original language description
Dewatering of flotation tailing slurries is one of the most important unit operations of a treatment plant circuit. In this study coagulation/flocculation processes were conducted on a froth flotation tailing slurries obtained from a coal preparation plant of Paskov Mine, the Ostrava Coal Basin (CR). This article describes approaches for improving dewatering of the flotation tailing slurries using combination of optimal dosage of tested coagulants and mixing conditions. Tailings suspension density was 10g/L. Tested coagulations were aquatic solutions of aluminium chloride-hydroxide complexes (FLOKOR series) and aquatic solution of polyaluminium chloride (PAX-18). Relation between tailing slurries and addition of coagulant was characterized by zeta potential. pH values, temperature and turbidity were measured. The best results were achieved using coagulant of FLOKOR series, turbidity reduction was 95%, pH did not fall below 7, using the optimal dosage of 50?L/L for F 1.2A respectively 9
