Impact of renewable energy installations support on competitiveness of industrial companies in the Czech Republic and Spain with focus on photovoltaic

  • Original language description

In last decade the renewable energy sources were promoted thanks to their environmental and socio-economic benefits. In 2007 the EU member states agreed to cover 20% of overall energy demand by renewable sources by 2020. In order to meet EU requirements, most European governments committed to increase the share of renewable energy sources. Although the price of this energy on the market is low because of zero variable costs, the utilization of this energy is associated with considerable investment costsfor investors. To enhance the attractiveness of these investments the national governments introduced systems for support of these investment projects known as public support schemes. Resources for "public" financial support are in various ways transmitted to consumers. Currently, the most discussed renewable resource used in the Czech Republic, as in Spain, is the solar energy, especially photovoltaic systems. Controversial is mainly due to the massive aid that has been devoted to this
