In current turbulent environment, it is important for every businessman as well as enterprise to maintain entrepreneurial potential and seek for new market opportunities. This applies to each branch of national economy including engineering. In the CzechRepublic, abrasive silicon carbide is often being used in engineering to grind, burnish and lap various materials. The decision about which country might become a purchaser of silicon carbide, or meeting with a market gap, depends among others on an evolution of macroeconomic indicators of given country, such as gross domestic product (GDP), inflation and industrial production index (IPP). The aim of the present article is to assess - based on an evaluation of the selected macroeconomic indicators - whether the German market is crucial for possible sales of silicon carbide.
