n Ostrava - Karvina region is a large number of areas affected by mining and heavy industry, which are typical for this region. The major part of this traces are burrows where the particles of dust are participate. The particles may enter into the air byerosion, mining or reclamation and they become secondary sources of emissions that adversely affect air quality in the region. We selected two sites, heap EMA in Ostrava region and dump of mine ČSM in Karvina region. Sampling was made according to the methodology of US EPA - AP 42, Annex C.1. These samples were separated on fraction < 10 ?m. Extraction was carried out on silica gel and analysis of samples was made by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GS/MC). The results were entered into the program SYMOS 96, which emission situation was modelled.
