PREPARING THE MEASURES FOR WATER SUPPLIES DURING PERIODS OF DROUGHT
Original language description
Climatic changes as a consequence of global warming pose a potential threat for water supplies. Climatic changes will result in more extreme situations. These are periods of hot and drought which alternate with irregular intensive rain. Such periods pose a threat for continuous water supplies. This year, the drought struck a part of the Central Europe, including the Czech Republic. This results in major problems in supplies of drinking water and have negative impacts on agriculture and water management. This paper proposes a detailed evaluation of this period of drought as it will identify points of pressing urgency which need to be addressed in advance. It also recommends measures to be taken in order to supply water continuously during the expectedperiods of drought.
