Utilization of High Potential Geothermal Energy in the Czech Republic
Original language description
In the Czech Republic for the production of electricity and heat from geothermal energy mostly be using the principle of EGS. It is the creation of an underground heat exchanger at such a depth where the temperature is at least about 150oC to 160oC or more prefarebly about 200oC. In the Czech Republic this temperature can be found in approximately 5 - 6 km below the Earth's surface. From geological areas which are for the use of deep geothermal energy, has been chosen as a pilot area of deep faults - Erzgebirge break, breaks Bohemian Uplands, which are part of the Oharecky rift. The upcoming project is expected to perform two deep research wells in a selected area with detailed geological, geothermal and geophysical research, including laboratory tests on rock samples - drill core. In connection with the drilling of deep wells will be our research focuses on the application of appropriate, innovative drilling technologies, especially the use of technology with Down Hole Hammers (DTH).
