Smart geocoding of objects
Original language description
Available registers of institutions, companies, schools and other organizations suitable for a wide spectrum of geospatial analysis face the problem of the high-quality geocoding of their descriptions of geographical locations. Recorded addresses are not standardized and contain misspelling, missing or superfluous parts. Existing APIs of various map search engines (i.e. Google Maps, Here Maps, national Mapy.cz) usually provide a success rate of between 60-95% according to the quality of addresses. Nevertheless, even admitting the high rates, a considerable number of serious errors in location occur in some cases. The utilization of the existing official national address register is suitable only for errorless records. The new software standalone application GeoCoder has been developed to overcome these issues. Full text searching incorporates a sophisticated algorithm measuring the level of conformity between recorded and correct addresses. Advantages are in the high success rate, a substantially decreased number of serious mistakes, and the possibility to adapt the fitting strategy due to a modification ofweights.
