Original language description
Vermicomposting is a meaningful method how to use up biodegradable wastes. It exploits the life mechanisms of certain earthworm species from the family Lumbricina (order Haplotaxida). The final product of the metabolic processes in the bodies of Annelida is a high quality humus substrate - vermicompost, whose application positively influences the fertility of the upper soil layer thanks to its physical, chemical and biological properties.
