Selected environmental issues of the landscape of shale (Nízký Jeseník Mt., Czechia) - preliminary results.
Original language description
The area of the Low Jeseníky Mountains has been known since the 18th century, including from slate tiles. In places, in which shale was intensively or extensively exploited until 1945, mining excavations remained. In general, all mining activities are perceived by society as a degradation activity landscape. However, these indelible traces of shale extraction, in the form of various objects related to associated with mining, e.g. abandoned quarries, quarry ponds, shafts, drains, etc., also they gradually become colonized by unique plant and animal groups. Interesting species are associated with the specific environmental conditions of the post-mining landscape, and often rare and endangered species occur there. In the case of shale landscape, people themselves have become "New" colonizers.
