The electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation method - the procedure of the double loop (DL EPR) is standardized for evaluation of the intergranular corrosion susceptibility of common stainless steels. Two nickel base alloys (Alloy 825 and 59 were tested by the DL EPR method to prove the intergranular corrosion susceptibility. All samples of these alloys were submitted to: 1) sensitization annealing at selected temperatures (590-750°C) and time. 2) Simulation of heat affected zone at weld. The susceptibility to intergranular corrosion was evaluated by the standard corrosion tests and by the structure changes and corrosion penetration observations using microscopy. At the optimal conditions the results obtained by the DL EPR method are relatively compatible with the results of other performed tests. The testing conditions of usual DL EPR had to be modified for testing of stainless metallic materials of higher corrosion resistance.
