The hot ductility shortness and its relation to the cracks formation in continuously cast steel
Original language description
In recent years, the hot ductility of steels at low strain rates has become important because of its relation to the transverse cracks formation detected in continuously cast (CC) steel products. These cracks are believed to be initiated if the strand usually cast in curved mould is straightened in the temperature range of 700° to 1100°C. The strain rate is 10-3 to 10-4 s-1 during the unbending operation. These deformation conditions correspond to the ductility trough formation in the dependence of plasticity changes on testing temperature [1].
