This paper introduces the application of two original models - the numerical model of the temperature field of a caster and the model of chemical heterogeneity of concast steel slab. With the help of these models it is possible to forecast the occurrenceof the critical points of a slab from the viewpoint of its susceptibility to crack and fissure.
