Effect of hydrogen on mechanical and microstructural properties of Ni3Al based alloy
Original language description
The hydrogen effect on mechanical properties and fracture features in intermetallic alloys based on Ni3Al was investigated. Four ensembles of tensile specimens were prepared: stoichiometric, stoichiometric and hydrogenated, doped with B and Zr (0,2 at. %B, 0,5 at. % Zr), doped with B and Zr and hydrogenated. Hydrogenation was carried out at 800 °C in the flow of hydrogen. Tensile testing was performed. The hydrogen content in tested material was assessed to be in the range from 21 to 38 ppm in the stoichiometric undoped alloy and in the range from 6 to 29 ppm in the doped alloy. The hydrogen effect results in 38 % rise of the yield stress on the one hand and on the other hand in 19 % decrease of tensile strength of the stoichiometric undoped hydrogenated specimens. A similar tendency of the hydrogen effect on the yield stress rise can be observed for doped alloys, in this case, however, only by 8 % while the tensile strength decrease was more distinct than in case of undoped specimens
