Original language description
Oxygen transfer, permeability and solubility through biocompatible polymers have been studied. When oxygen concentration on one side of a lens varies, the response appears on the other side with certain delay. Delay times 5 to 20 minutes were common forstandard thin hydrophilic soft contact lenses. Related oxygen hold-up in lenses and its release to the environment is discussed.
