On the mechanisms of cross cracking in concast steel slab
Original language description
This paper is continuation of Ref. [1] in which the results of investigation into chemical heterogeneity of a concast low alloy steel slab with a transversal crack via two original numerical models are given, chemical composition of the slab and the wayof samples preparing are also described in details. This paper deals with the mechanism of the origin of a transversal crack in a steel slab by mean of an application of the theory of physical similarity and dimensionless criteria. Samples were taken f rom and around the crack in order to analyze the concentration, as well as the chemical heterogeneity of the constituent elements and impurities. Simultaneously, the concentration of elements at the surface of the crack was measured after the crack was opened. The heterogeneity of elements was analyzed by the JEOL JXA 8600/KEVEX device.
