The paper is devoted to the possibilities of the utilization of numerical modelling for metallurgical processes, i.e. the simulation of transition zone in continuously cast blanks originating during sequence casting of steel. It deals with the principleof the modelling of transition zone using CFD program Fluent. Creation of basic geometry by pre-processor Gambit 1.1 and setting of relevant conditions for own calculations. Data files obtained by numerical simulations are analysed in the program Excel.
