Original language description
Mathematical simulations and particularly experiments in laboratory and industrial scale conditions help to understand complex thermo-kinetic processes occurring at cooling of blank. The secondary cooling zone of the billet continuous casting machine (CCM) is usually equipped with nozzles ensuring direct spraying of the blank surface by cooling water. Experimental measurement was carried out with slot nozzles, which were positioned vertically towards the blank. Research focused on determination of overall spray characteristics of individual nozzles and determination of total flow quantities in the given cooling zone. Dependence of these values on the nozzle type was identified based on results from measurements of flow quantities and spray characteristics.
